Admissions · Entry requirements

Who can apply.

International applicants from any country, EU or non-EU, whose qualification entitles them to higher education at home — and who meet three core conditions.

At a glance

Three things we look for, in this order.

A recognised qualification

A high school diploma — or equivalent qualification — that entitles you to higher education in your home country.

Subject preparation

Successful passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry on your final-year transcript.

English at CEFR B2

Proof of English language proficiency at level B2 or above. Six acceptable forms of proof.

Eligibility categories

Three routes in.

The Programme accepts foreign candidates in three categories. Most international applicants fall under the first — graduates of high schools abroad.

01
The most common route

Graduates of high schools abroad

If you completed your secondary education at a high school or equivalent school based in another country, you're eligible to apply. Your high school diploma — or equivalent qualification — must entitle you to enrol in higher education institutions in the country where you graduated.

What we'll check
  • You completed at least the last two years of high school in a foreign country
  • Your qualification grants you access to higher education in that country
Applies to
EU & non-EU citizens
From any country, who completed their high school education abroad.
02
For students at foreign schools in Greece

Graduates of recognised foreign schools located in Greece

If you graduated from a foreign school legally established and operating in Greece — and your qualification entitles you to higher education in the country whose curriculum that school follows — you may apply, subject to two conditions.

Required conditions
  • You and your parents do not have Greek nationality
  • You attended at least the last two years of high school on a full-time basis
School recognition
Greek Secondary Education Directorate
Foreign schools in Greece must be officially recognised as legally operating.
03
For transfer students

Students transferring from foreign higher-education institutions

If you're already studying at a foreign School of Science, Environment, Polytechnic or related higher-education institution abroad, you may transfer in to continue your studies in the corresponding semester and be awarded a degree by the Programme — provided you hold the relevant evaluation certificate.

Required documentation
  • Certificate of evaluation of periods of study completed at a recognised foreign HE institution (per Article 314A of Greek Law 4957/2022)
  • Application submitted via the Greek Ministry of Education's Electronic Registration Information System
Submission
Programme Secretariat
Application can be submitted in printed or electronic form.
Subject preparation

Three subjects required.

Your final-year high school transcript must show successful passes in three core subjects. These are the foundation we expect you to build on across the programme.

Mathematics
Required pass
Physics
Required pass
Chemistry
Required pass
If your country's high school leaving certificate uses different terminology or subject groupings, the Curriculum Committee evaluates each transcript on its merits. What we look for is evidence that you've covered the conceptual ground these three subjects cover. If you're unsure, get in touch before you apply.
English language

Six ways to prove it.

The programme is taught entirely in English. You'll need to demonstrate proficiency at CEFR level B2 or above. The good news: there are six acceptable ways to prove it, not just one.

B2
The minimum. CEFR level B2 — equivalent to "upper intermediate." It's the level at which you can follow a university lecture, read academic texts, and write coherent essays.
01
English is your mother tongue. No certificate needed.
02
You hold a CEFR B2+ certificate from a recognised examination body — IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, and others recognised under Greek Ministry of Education and ASEP decisions.
03
You hold a degree from a School of Foreign Languages and Literature, or a School of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting in Greece, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution abroad.
04
You hold a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate from a recognised foreign university where the programme was conducted entirely in English.
05
Your high school education was in English. Specifically, the last two years of secondary education must have been at a school where English was the official language of instruction.
06
Other recognised certificates per current Greek Ministry of Education and ASEP listings — get in touch if you're unsure whether yours qualifies.
!
A foreign-language teaching certificate is not enough on its own.
If you hold a teaching qualification rather than a proficiency certificate, you'll need to submit the underlying degree on which the teaching certificate was issued, along with an official translation. The teaching certificate by itself is not accepted as proof of language proficiency.
Document authentication

Four ways to verify your documents.

Your high school diploma and transcript need to be officially authenticated. Don't panic if you've never done this — there are four accepted methods, and the right one depends on your country.

01

Apostille stamp

If your country is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, an apostille on your documents is the simplest path. Most EU countries, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and many others issue apostilles through their Ministry of Foreign Affairs or equivalent.

02

Notarial certification

A formal notarial act certifying the authenticity of your documents. Available in most countries through licensed notaries.

03

Ministry certification

Certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and / or the Ministry of Education of the country that issued your documents. Useful for countries outside the Apostille Convention.

04

Direct school verification

Submit your leaving certificate and transcript and notify your former school. The school sends an official email to the Programme Secretariat enabling direct verification.

Considered positively

Strong subject preparation, where present.

These are not minimum requirements. Your file is evaluated as a whole. But strong performance in any of these credentials is taken positively into account — particularly in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

International Baccalaureate (IB) ≥ 28 / 45
GCE A-levels ≥ BBB in 3 subjects
Advanced Placement (AP) Grade 4 or 5
